Not Enough

Sometimes it is not enough.

What do you do when nothing seems to be enough?

The obvious answer would be to be to practice gratitude.

Sometimes you are not ungrateful but what you have is not enough.

You have some love in your life, but not enough. You have some money in your life, but not enough. You have lived life, but not enough.

I wish I were smart enough to know the answer, but I am not. Instead, I will leave you with a poem for when it is not enough.

Not Enough

To see you everyday,
To smile at you,
To talk with you,
While I do not wake up next to you, 
Is not enough.

To shake your hand,
To give you a light hug,
And to settle for only a whiff of you,
Is not enough.

If all of me
cannot have all of you,
If our hearts do not
beat in unison, 
If our skins do not shield
the other with warmth,
If our bodies never
converge into one again, 
Yet have to be in the same vicinity,
That is not enough.
